Youth Conservation Corps

The youth conservation corps, led by Coordinator Jeff Hackett, has had a busy summer. In order to extend the program beyond the life of our present grant, which expires in December, this spring we turned for assistance from the four towns bordering on the lake. Poland and Casco are each supplying $2,500; Otisfield and Oxford, with longer shorelines, will put in $5.000 each. Jeff also received a $500 grant from Wal Mart to support the program.

Seven teenage boys worked on the following types of projects:

The property owner pays for the materials, and the YCC provides the labor. This program has been very successful in its efforts to protect the water quality of Thompson Lake.
