Lunches for DEAN
Since February 2004, the people of St. Aidan's supplies lunches every
other Wednesday to about ten clients of the DownEast AIDS Network.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Each Shrove Tuesday, St. Aidan's hosts a pancake supper to benefit Sunrise
Opportunities. On February 24, 2004, enthusiastic diners ate pancakes,
sausages, creamed chicken and strawberries and to inspected Sunrise
Opportunities headquarters. The Machias Rotary Club also came to have
supper and hold their monthly meeting. Sharon Dean, Executive Director of
Sunrise, addressed the Rotary Club and described the many types of support
Sunrise Opportunities give the mentally/physically handicapped. This year
St. Aidan's was particularly short-handed staffing the supper, but the
Sunrise employees rose tot he occasion and gave us even more help than
usual. We received lots of compliments on the good food, the attractive
surroundings, and the warm welcome from the Sunrise and St. Aidan's
servers. "We'll be back next year" was heard over and over
again. We are happy that is was such a successful evening and we look
forward to repeating it next year. |
