I
was unable to obtain a job shadow do to complications in the process of
obtaining a job shadow or interview.
I had planed to visit the OB Wings at Maine Medical, Southern Maine Med.,
or Goodall Hospital. I was unabvle to reach the correct personnel do to
vacations etc. and I was extremely disappointed with the out come of my
job shadow search.
Throughout junior high I served as a junior volunteer at Goodall Hospital
and watched and worked with the General Nurses at the hospital.By just
watching them I observed the experience and dedication that it takes to
be a nurse of any kind. Not only do nurses bring food to patients, take
temperatures, and change bedpans they have the important job of taking
the place of the physician when the doctor is not present.
A nurse can do any job from preparing the patient for surgery to filing
papers in the hospital records room. It takes dedication to be a nurse
and the profession must be something you enjoy. Working with patients and
a patient's family can be difficult and you must be able to handle the
responsibility for caring for the patient.
