Education
The education required for psychology varies greatly between focus area and school.  There are opportunities to attend a university for four years for a Bachelor of Arts Degree or five to six years to achieve a Master of Arts Degree.  Then a Ph.D. in Psychology can be obtained with further schooling.  This is where a Psychology Branch is to be highly focussed on.  Medical School is also another option for a Ph.D/Doctorate Degree after the M/A or B/A and that would total approximately 10-12 years in school.  The medical school aspect also allows for an opportunity to combine education of the undergraduate years to be titled a psychiatrist and be able to prescribe medicine for psychological issues. Psychiatry also requires residency years after medical school.  These two fields vary greatly and require similar and opposite core courses.
Wesleyan University offers a four year B/A and a five year M/A.  To be able to complete the required Master of Arts degree, in five years, the schedule that is chosen must be carefully arranged and tightly psychologically packed. An example of the type of curriculum required is described well by Dartmouth College.  An overview of that program is provided below.
Dartmouth is flexible to the individual need.  The program is usually completed after four years.  The first year is a year-long, rich seminar.  This seminar provides solid foundation.  A lot of training is done in statistics.  Year two and three is spent in deep research and doing individual readings with faculty.  An examination is taken and must be passed to be able to proceed to year four study.  The exam is specialized to the persons personal areas of psychology.
Harvard also has a great psych program.  An example of the kind of courses offered are as follows. The first year is an Intro to Psychology program.  Next a Statistics course is required and offers an Introduction to Quantitative Methods.  After this a choice has to be made from 2 lists, the first is Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, or Vision and the Brain.  The second list includes Human Development, Personality Psychology, and Abnormal Psych.  Finally, a set of concentration courses and electives finishes the program.
At Princeton, the last year of study can be spent doing Independent Senior Work where effort is put toward a thesis that is based upon study, research, and lab work.  Yale suggests courses offered in other departments to be taken, such as Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Molecular or Cellular Genetics, Development, and Sociology.  All of these tie into the psychology description in some way.  Wesleyan also offers a Senior year option of an Interjoint Course with Sociology.

Below is a list of college psychology program links which I previewed and that present their requirements and information in an above par manner.  All are excellent schools and have impressive psychology programs.
