Becoming a doctor takes a lot of schooling. It's like starting your school years all over from since you were in kindergarten to a senior in high school. However, it does depend on what position you want as a doctor and what kind of degree you want. This page will give you an outline with what kind of education you may need for the job requirements.

General Education

REASONING

  • Reasoning development is the ability to understand concepts and systems, solve problems, use your judgment, understand and carry out instructions, and adapt to social and work environments.
examples: Interpreting formulas, equations, and graphs, applying logical or scientific thinking to a wide range and problems.

MATH

  • Attain the basic math skills (solving arithmetic, algebra, and geometry).
examples: Working with logarithms and exponents, applying concepts, statistical procedures.

LANGUAGE

  • You need language skills. Like an extensive vocabulary and correct sentencing/structure, punctuation and spelling.
example: Public speaking.

Minimum Medical Degree
  • 4 years of undergraduate school
  • 4 years of medical school and 3 to 8 years of internship and residency ( a few medical schools offer a combined undergraduate and medical school program that lasts 6 years)

Requirements for Doctor's License

To be a licensed physician for all states in the United States, including Washington D.C., and U.S. territories, you must graduate from an accredited medical school, plus a licensing examination and complete 1 to a7 years of graduate medical education.
