Job
Shadow ![]() |
To set
up a job shadow there are many ways of going about it. One way to
start is to look on the Web and find the name of local hospitals.
Most hospitals have web pages and on the page it describes the medical
personnel employed at the hospital and the services that particular hospital
offers. To find a pediatric cardiologist you can either look up cardiologists
and see if any specialize in pediatrics or do it the other way around and
look up pediatricians and see if any specialize in cardiology.
Also, the yellow
pages of your local phone book is a good resource. Look for hospitals
and make some phone calls. Researchers are also a good option.
Calls to research clinics are the way to start if this is the route you
want to go.
Spending the
day with a pediatric cardiologist is a truly tiring prospect. Just
the life of a physician is spending never mind that of a specialist.
If the clinical aspect of the job is what interests you then you should
be in store for appointments and consultations all day with minimal, if
any, personal time. The first years out of medical school are exhausting
but after you are an established physician the hours are little more flexible
and the paycheck rises as you become more experienced. It is worthwhile
though and very rewarding.
