Briscoe
(Avalon's The Brewster)

This is Briscoe. He came here to live the day before Easter, 2002. Normal kids get chocolate bunnies for Easter, but nooooo, not me. I get Beardies with issues.

He was returned to his breeder after he didn't work out in his previous home. He was bred and lovingly raised by Val and Pat Maloney of Avalon Bearded Collies and Showstopper Canine Gifts. His registered name is Avalon's The Brewster, but don't blame me. I didn't get to name him. Neither did Val.

We'll never really know what was wrong with Briskie, though a mutual friend's theory that he might have had a brain tumor makes a good deal of sense. I'm not sure I believe in animal communicators, but one Val and I consulted said he suffered from severe headaches — read into that what you will. Anyway, the poor little fellow lived here for a year, and attacked me severely multiple times in that year. After the final time, I felt I had to declare defeat and see whether Val could help him better than I could. Unfortunately, he couldn't do better at Val's, and he was gently sent to rest in July of 2003 — ironically, on the same day I lost Duncan.
