Greetings From Blogdog

Bryna's 3rd Birthday Party

Yesterday Mom started making lots of things with wonderful smells. She made beardie coolers and liver brownies. The house smelled WONderful! And she started throwing lots of stuff into the computer room, and washed all the chairs in the back yard. Then she came in and brushed me all over.

When she finished each paw, I got a little piece of liver brownie--she said it helped me not wiggle so much.

This morning Mom went shopping. (She said I couldn't go because it was too hot.) Then she brought all this stuff outside -- more chairs and more tables, and my crate (for rowdy beardies, she said), and tubs of water, and coolers with people food, and bowls of ice water. She hardly held still all day!

Then at 2:00, lots of beardies and their humans started to arrive. There was Farley Renard, Sara and Kaley Tiffany, Barkley and Chief Cooke, Shana Adler, Fiona and Logan Dimond-Orrock, Gloria McMurtry, Chauncey Clayton, and Chubby and Lancelot Mangis. And there was even a visiting beardie from Chicago, Cosby Jaris! Fourteen beardies! And 17 humans who adored us! It was so exciting! We all raced around and jumped and had a wonderful time.

Three of the littlest humans, and 2 of the big ones played "blind man's beardie". They had their eyes covered up, and 5 of us went in front of them while they felt us. Most of the time, they figured out who was their own dog. I don't know why they didn't smell us -- it would have been SO easy to tell us apart!

Then we played the "bobbing for hot dogs" relay race. Not everyone could play, but we had two packs of 6 beardies each, and the little humans judged when we had pulled a hot dog out of our pack's big tub of water on the other side of my yard. Then we raced back and the next dog (with his or her human on lead) on our team raced over and did the same. Our 6 finished first, and we got rawhide ropes for prizes! Yeah! We eat fast! When my mom took the leash off, I raced over and finished off all of the little bits of hot dog left in our pack's bowl. I don't think my mom liked that very much. We all ate our beardie coolers and stuff while our humans had fizzy water, ice cream, cake, and fruit stuff. They didn't share with us. My mom said it was really, really good, though.

Then we did doggie square dancing. It was great fun, and all the humans laughed a lot. We had enough for two squares, and the other humans watched. I got to watch, since mom was training them. I don't think she did a very good job since she didn't give anyone any treats.

Then we all raced around while the humans sat. Then my friends left. Mom sat on the deck for a long time. She had a glass of something called champagne in her paws. She didn't give me another liver brownie, even though I kept looking at them. She said that the humans gave lots of money for poor beardies instead of birthday presents for me. I sat beside her. We were both very happy.
