Build stone walls by stacking small (1 inch or so) stones in a line. Make shrubs or trees from moss found at craft stores. The moss alone creates shrubs. When added to small branches (glued on) and fixed to a base it becomes a tree. (We also have a large stock of the santon trees 3 sizes. Cypres sur socle in the brochure.) Gather gravel and pebbles from the edge of the road and sprinkle on the surface of your base to create a real country setting. This also eliminates the need to dust! Ponds, rivers, and streams become realistic with mirrors, or tinfoil. Edge them with the gravel, place a duck in the pond, cross the river with a bridge (also in our brochure). Place a fisherman (pecheur assis (sitting fisherman) or pecheur a la linge (fisherman standing with pole). The laveuse (woman kneeling doing laundry) works well by the stream. Groupings to Consider: Gather musicians, gypsies and dancers together to set off on their journey to visit the holy family. The well (2 types available) is a gathering place for the figures with buckets and jugs. The list goes on and on.... We welcome any ideas you may have. Until We Hear From You...... Betsy (thatÆs me), Richard the husband, Holly the daughter (my seasonal helpers) and son Joe (the technical person, web site creator) will do our best to keep you as satisfied customers. Order early to assure your first choices. In our house we set the santons out Thanksgiving Eve. Keep the tradition going for yourself and your family. The other villagers make good spectators. After a long, old-fashioned, stormy winter, Spring is here in Maine. It is hard to comprehend the transformation of the seasons here. One week the ground is completely covered with snow. The next week, with snow still hiding in the woods, the crocus and other spring flowers are 3 inches high. The sand that was used to keep us save on slippery roads is now burying the vegetation along the edge of the highway. Certainly nothing has survived this long hard winter! Look again.....there they are. Grass, wildflowers, shrubs and ferns pushing their way through to seek
