Officers patrol 54 square miles of territory for the Town of Sanford/Village of Springvale and handles an approximate average of 35,000 calls-for-service per year.  The population is approximately 26,000 with seasonal increases.  Three major state highways intersect the town, Rt. 109, Rt. 202 and Rt. 4.  The town is situated in the valley formed by the Mousam River.

The town borders Alfred, Acton, Lebanon, Kennebunk,  North Berwick, Shapleigh, and Wells.  Sanford/Springvale is in the southern most county of York.
