Breakfast

Coffee, teas or hot chocolate, to be enjoyed in your room, are available first thing in the morning on the second floor. A FULL BREAKFAST served in the dining room until 9 AM. Continental breakfast available after 9 AM.

Bill and Robin make homemade breads, muffins, coffee cakes, jams and jellies. Full breakfasts are varied and include specialties such as "Lion Eggs" and sourdough pancakes. Bacon and eggs are available, however, we have hot whole grain cereals, brown rice, corn grits or oatmeal and ordinarily have granola, fruit juice sweetened, on hand. We accommodate special and vegetarian diets.

All of our bread is homemade. We specialize in sourdough made from a starter we've maintained for many years. All of the white flour we use is unbleached and all other flours are freshly ground here at the Roaring Lion.

We make a corn bread and many other breakfast cakes, using milk and eggs. We also make several varieties of corn bread without milk, sugar or eggs, using fruit juices and soy milk. We are continually experimenting with other kinds of breakfast cakes that satisfy our guests who require a macrobiotic, gluten-free or vegetarian diet.

We have many herb teas, Bancha twig tea and grain beverage (Roma) available, as well as regular coffees and teas.

Much of our produce is raised here at the Roaring Lion gardens. Gardening is one of our major hobbies. We live on and serve the vegetables that we grow. We also grow our own flowers for the house and to place in the rooms.

We have several excellent natural food stores in the area where we do most of our shopping. There is store in the village that has a lunch counter. They make wonderful sandwiches and soups.. It is a five-minute walk from our place. There is also a restaurant that serves vegetarian entrees within a five-minute drive. Within a 20-minute drive there are numerous other restaurants which serve excellent meals and offer vegetarian alternatives.
