Can I locate NGS Control Points without knowing the station
name?
Yes. If you know the name of the state and county, or
USGS topographic quad name, or a place name defined by the Board of Geographic Names in
the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), or latitude - longitude, you can locate
and display the point(s) in your area of interest. |
How much hard drive storage do I need for the
data?
The software executable
requires 16MB. Individual states require anywhere from 30MB to 100+/- MB. The entire USA
requires about 4-5GB of storage. |
Can I use the NGS
supplied CD-ROM I already have?
Yes. You need to have the most recent regional CD and you
need to order from us the optional software module for your specific region. |
Why is the point on the wrong side
of the road?
The point is
correctly located. The resolution of the map data positions the road to a lesser accuracy
than the points. |
I do not see any points in my
state? Why can't I see the control point data sheet information?
Maybe it was not
installed during setup, or not selected as a layer. Rerun setup and select only "load
state". Then, run the program, and select layers (last icon, top-right of your
screen), and select the state you loaded during setup. If you loaded more than one state
during setup, you have to select each state in the layers screen. |
Are these control points as good
as NGS?
Yes, they are
identical data from NGS. |
