3E XP Calculator

D&D 3E dramatically revises experience points with a new, universal table shared by all character classes. Our JavaScript calculator uses the two different methods described in the Dungeons and Dragons Conversion Manual to translate second edition AD&D experience point totals into 3E XP. The Quick Method simply finds the 3E halfway point between XP needed to reach the character's current level and XP needed for the next level. The Accurate Method calculates how close the character is to reaching the next level in second edition XP, and then places the character about the same distance from the next level in 3E XP.

A third conversion method uses the RPGA's Living City guidelines, which were developed in part to address problems with converting multi-class characters. This method uses a conversion table based on total experience points. Unlike the first two methods, the Living City system may also change the character's level.
