He enjoyed gaming and drinking his Blackbelly stout. Friar Sidrach was an excellent public speaker with a genuine concern for the common folk; he relished wandering the countryside. His faith in the Five was very strong, and the friar performed several notable miracles. The friar was also a good tailor and on occasion fashioned warm winter clothing for his comrades. As he gave almost all of his money to the Gerardian order, Friar Sidrach rarely had any coin of his own. Later in his career he took a keen interest in the fate of converted ruck-men. Garnfellow wielded the sword Welsung; his shield bore the image of three rampant lions on an azure field; his battered old war-horse was named Justicar.
