Even though we have not had any formal get-togethers for several years we are making  progress as demonstrated by this WEB Site (construction donated by K. Ault).   Five major issues stand out.
The pesky foam:
This was substantially reduced by the construction of a sloping spillway in 1997, but starting in 2002 (and continuing so far) the foam diminished additionally. At this time we have no insights why this improvement has occurred.
Shoreline Cleanup:
We have tackled  this for several years but  auto tires continue to be dumped near the Old Bath Road boat launch. Thank you volunteers for a nice job.
Pogies:
I have been in contact each year with the National Marine Fisheries Services to find out where they are and to predict whether we will have problems. So far we have been lucky.   I have also headed up a committee  to try to predict Pogie migration trends.
Commercial Fishing:
The large number of horseshoe crabs is an indicator of a healthy ecosystem. Quahog harvesting continues and most of the lake is open to clamming. An oyster aquaculture lease was issued a permit by DMR  in 1997 and is still operating.  There are also two more oyster aquaculture rafts operations at the marina from May to July .
Town Zoning:
The Town of Brunswick has almost completed its  update of its Comprehensive Plan. Unfortunately the specific recommendations of Lake residents to improve water circulation at the US Rte #1 causeway that had been included in the 1993 plan has been dropped .

Peterson Canal:

The Winter canal walk which was started in 2002 by Paul M. has become an annual event.
