Julie S. Porter and I have produced a p.c. board using the MN83803Ax and IR3y05 chips, following the PV-950-B camcorder manual. You may download the design by clicking here.
The design is in ExpressPCB's proprietary format. You may download the ExpressPCB CAD program for free, in order to see it. Their service is very convenient, and their program is easy to use; you can order boards made via the internet, using the ExpressPCB program, if you like.
The present design has some errors. I've made some revisions that hopefully remedy all of them. Click here to download it.

Kristian provides his PC board design for posting here, while he etches it. As his testing and design progresses, we will post updates here. This design is based on the electronic viewfinder schematic from the Panasonic PV-D705 series repair manual. .

ExpressPCB offers free CAD software and an attractively priced fabrication service.
Microsim makes an integrated CAD/CAM package for electronic schematic entry, SPICE circuit simulation and optimization, and PC board autorouting and manufacturing.
Pricey but full-featured. The freeware demo package for DesignLab and PSpice A/D is fully featured as well, except for limitations on design size and the parts libraries one can use in design.
Nate Caine ( natecaine@aol.com ) has provided some tips on soldering to the FPC connectors.
We have a scan of the PC board layout of one of the camcorders' electronic viewfinder (EVF), in which the MN83803AK is used, which will supplement the schematics when they become available.
SMT, the Swiss Mounting Technique, also known as Surface Mount Technology, allows denser, more miniaturized circuit boards to be made, partly because mounting on one side of the board doesn't take up space on the other side of the board, as happens with through-hole mounting techniques. Surface-mount I.C. packages are also smaller than many of their counterparts, especially Dual In-line Packages (DIPs).
We provide a bibliography and links to SMT resources on the web.
That's all for now. More sources of information on SMT techniques and PC board fabrication will be provided as time allows!
