Tricolor in breeding plummage
Pie-billed Grebe
Anhinga Family of Three at feeding time

This larger chick is the sole survivor of a clutch of three. There is a
dead chick next to it in the nest.

Chicks put their entire heads down the parents' throats - and this one winds up
with a whopping big fish for its efforts.
February 20, 2008 - Red-Shouldered Hawk

While eating his catch, a blue jay repeatedly bombarded this guy, which reacted
to the jabs about as much as it would a fly.

HERDING FISH IN POND
A gang of birds would herd the fish from one end of the little
ditch to the other, scooping them up as they did so. There were 3 snowy
egrets, a male hooded merganser and 3 females, a male blue-winged teal,
and a white ibis engaged in this activity.
