| Classic Silk After being individually stretched on a custom made frame, each piece of hand painted silk participates in a ritual involving the selection of just the right leaf/fern from the artist’s extensive gardens. Susan prefers to paint outside during the summer and fall months when weather conditions permit. Sun, wind, and fog from the ocean all contribute to differing outcomes in the painting process. Susan has developed several non-standard techniques of silk painting that create unusual explosions of form and color in a beautiful celebration of nature. One of her quirky methods is a non-standard marbling technique she has developed using brushes made from clusters of fresh cut grasses. The results are breath taking. |

Classic Jewelry One thing does tend to lead to another in life. For quite some time, several established Art of a Woman clients had been eyeing the jewelry that Susan had designed for her own personal use to complement the scarves she wears. After years of adorning Art of a Woman Goddess Line sculptural forms with a combination of sterling/gold/copper wire and semi-precious stones, Susan had accumulated quite a treasure trove of beautiful pearls, stones and crystals. Naturally, a few of these items made it into jewelry that the artist made for herself! It was a short step into custom designing jewelry for clients to complement Art of a Woman hand painted silks. Emphasis is placed on the integration of pearls, stones and crystals in an unusual, yet harmonious and feminine style. |

| Classic Clay Forms Although artist Susan Hazzard goes out of her way to let people know that she does not view herself as a potter, her high fire ceramic pottery is eagerly awaited and sold out each year. Priced below market value to support Susan’s belief that it is good to let go of the heavy things in life, each piece is functional pottery designed for everyday use. All glazes are lead free and food safe. Oven and microwave use are not recommended. |

| Goddess Clay Sculptural Forms The very heart of Art of a Woman is expressed in the many feminine sculptural forms that Susan creates. Ranging in size from a small clay goddess ornament measuring only 5 inches, to 3 foot tall open form feminine vessels, Susan reaches back in time to a place where women of all shapes and sizes were celebrated and where old age was revered and honored. An extensive collection of original design work is expressed in various wall altar formats and glorious high fire glaze combinations. Each piece of work is named for the experience, the energy, or the woman that inspired its creation. Annual custom design commissions are accepted on a limited, non-rush basis. |
