51st ANNUAL DOWN EAST FAIR

SATURDAY, JULY 18th, 2009

To Our Church Family and Friends:

Just an update on some accomplishments of the past week. We have been sorting and pricing, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 9:00 to about Noon. See attached photos. Things are going well with a good group showing up each day. Today we finally removed nearly all of the boxes to be priced out of the Boutique. This gives Lenny more to room to play. It is all wonderful in the Boutique and I think we are ahead of the game there. Next to empty the second floor of the Sousa barn and we'll be caught up with pricing. We are pricing, antiques, tools and miniatures for the Jewelry table as well as the White Elephant and Pink Giraffe items, so it is quite a task. We dearly miss Ursula and Margaret and hope they are doing well.

The "Extreme Fair Effort" of the week award definitely goes to the "Midway Gang", Marilyn Kitler, Beth Bradshaw, Wendy Copson Higgins and Jean Gilpatrick. They even have a secretary for their meetings (Jean) and are producing incredible "Master Equipment Lists" and layouts of the Midway. Thanks to a wonderful Fair donation, they have added a new "super slide" to the Midway. Wait until you see it! Great job girls!!

We are pleased that we have already received four cash donations for the Fair. You know who you are and we all say a big, big thank you!

Next Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., July 8th, will be the first day we can use the Hulls Cove Schoolhouse due to rentals. We will need to move all the toys, crafts and boxes of donated shells to the Schoolhouse to be sorted and priced. It would be great to have four to six helpers and a pickup truck to help move these items in record time. Please call or email Joanne if you can help with this project. Nothing is heavy!

Pricing of the Toys for the Country Store will be Thursday, July 9th at 9:00 a.m. We will need a big crew and the more the merrier for this event. Please email or call if you can help on this date. We usually have 12-15 people for this pricing event. Came and join the fun!

We need at least one more helper in six of our Booths. They are Cooked Food, Linens, Jewelry, Art Booth, Boutique and Pop Corn. Usually as it get closer to the Fair, folks call and want to be a part of the Fair. Do you have a friend that might be willing to volunteer?

Please enjoy photos of the wonderful antiques that will be in the Auction. We will try and get the photos in the papers to advertise the Fair and Auction. A special THANKS to one of our church members for the donation of beautiful antiques.

You may still look for us at the parade! We'll be the ones by the Grand Hotel watching! We finally decided that we can only do so many things in one day. Maybe next year!
