Now is the time of creation...

NOW focuses on creation – that moment, the now, of creation. The creator, poet or painter, is connected to that moment, involved within the creative moment, which, as we know, is explosive in nature, in the universe – quiet within the human mind yet violent. In that moment a creative form is generated, different from previously created forms, opening the infinite possibilities for created forms in the human arts as in natural creation. As William Carlos Williams has stated: "All the ways and means we have of writing just go to prove no one has yet found the one best way." NOW – Works on Paper 1976-2006 – Poetry and Antipoetry is a ten year selection of the exploration of literary form with free verse, prose poetry, prose poetry, new wall works, antipoetry to unnamed forms presenting a variety of subjects from nature, jazz, history, to the literary and personal.

The Swiss artist, Paul Klee, in his book, On Modern Art, defines the risk – the suicide where the artist gives his life to gain life from the source – '...penetrate to the region of that secret place where primeval power nurtures all evolution. There, where the powerhouse of all time and space – call it brain or heart of creation – activates every function; who is the artist who would not dwell there.... In the womb of nature, at the source of all creation, where the secret key to all lies guarded.' This seems a romantic notion, but I think it an appropriate description of the human creator's nature."
