Sometimes the burden of being rational and responsible while everyone around me was howling was more than I liked. Sara Paretsky, "Blood Shot" (V.I. Warshawski #5)

Welcome! Iím "9-UH." When I was about 14 years old and writing stories while I was supposed to be paying attention to my high school teachers, I coined the pseudonym "Marianne Barron." Yes, Virginia, Nina and Marianne really are the same person. You can contact either or both at: nina_osier@yahoo.com.

I write mostly speculative fiction, but I have some mainstream and nonfiction titles, too. I invite you to browse through the synopses on my pages, read sample chapters, and follow links to some other interesting sites. Thanks for visiting me! Enjoy.

Soon I'll start posting new reviews again, I promise. I am slowly but surely gaining in ability to tolerate reading time! Meanwhile, I'm updating my photograph to show how I look these days. It's the first "selfie" I've taken that I actually like.

I'm no longer going to be posting reviews to Amazon, I've decided after one too many unsolicited review requests. I am sorry; I do know how it feels to be a new author who's searching for willing reviewers. But it's annoying to announce, both here and in my Amazon profile, that at this time I am not reviewing - and still get a constant flow of requests, some of them actually sending me an attached copy of the book or a link to where I am expected to download it. No; you don't do that to a reviewer. I've set my filters to dump these e-mails directly into the trash, and from now on I'll be confining my own reviews to this website. Most of them, if not all, will be of books I chose to read for pleasure.

As a special thank you to my readers, after being a published eBook author since 1997, I've made my most recent release - To the Farthest Outlands - available as a free download. This link will take you directly to its publisher's website, where you can get your copy immediately. Of course you can also order a printed copy if you prefer.

I am no longer associated with either Xlibris or iUniverse (which is now known as AuthorHouse). You may still find editions of my books published by these companies for sale, but if so they are remainder copies or secondhand. You can purchase every one of these titles in its current edition from Write Words.

Please bookmark this site and check back often. I'm always (except when my muse requires otherwise) changing or adding something. Hope to see you here again soon!
