Callie

Callie is special. She has become my new pet project and I'm having a lot of fun with her as of this writing. She was my compromise between the cravings of having a cute bunny character (the one-shot Moxie Bunny April Fool's post wasn't enough to get ky00tness out of my system) and to provide an avenue for future collaboration with Bryan Hall after The Education. Introduced in a quick story/banter widebeam on 9 May 1997, the original intention was have her make her way to Volo Bog quickly within a week or two. What I had not anticipated in was the strong response Callie produced from the newsgroup. Which resulted in more banter than I am willing to place here.

Below is her initial intro to the newsgroup and some of the responses leading-up to
The Little Runaway story. Those who responded included all factions in the war. Mostly what I've included below is from the characters she would interact with further in her adventure to Volo Bog Warren. I appologize for everyone else I have left-out in this. wellfluff muffy had taken me places including the grand canyon awesomefluff and on these trips she showed me how to make the bunnymover go cept that puter chip i removed i think did more than make it hard for them to find me i think it was the puters brain chip i dont know where i am or where im going sighfluff

Callie:

To get your e-motes working, go into /usr/src/bunix, and type "groom".
It'll ask you a bunch of stuff and look very cute while it tries to do
it's best to make you think it's doing something important. It'll ask
you something along the lines of "Enable Meta E-motes? [N/y]" Type y,
and press return. For the rest of it, just use the defaults it gives
you. Once it's all done, type "make clean; make fluffy". Lots of more
really cute stuff will happen, and in the end, your e-mote buttons
will work.

Also, I'm one of those symps that Smudge was talking about, and I
might be able to help. Don't tell me where you are, just tell me if
you are close to New York State or not. Try checking the BunMover
terminal status as you pass through any stations.

Above all, *don't* give your exact location away to *anyone*.  If someone asks you for them, they are on the Bad Guys
side. Trust me on this.

   Getting to us is easy, Callie. Remember that control panel
that you saw when you got on the 'mover? The one with the
ky00t blinky lights? To get to us, all you have to do is type this..

    fluffall destinations

    Then type..

    go maintdep 363-2541

  You will see the outside lights on the 'mover go out, and a red
light appear on the control panel.  That's all right.. the 'mover
has just set itself to go to a station near my Warren, and to
prevent anyone else from getting on the car you're in.
In four days time, you'll be here with me! (chitter)

  Don't worry.. the bad buns can't follow you here. The 'mover
will forget that you were ever on it, and that code you entered 
can only be used once.

  Callie.. this is very important. I need you to let me know 
*before* (EmphaticFlickFlick) you enter that code. I want
to be there for you when you arrive.

    (SighFlick) Yes, Callie, I am like that Woof guy on 
StarTrek, but much friendlier. And yes, I do have

There's two possibilities, callie. It depends on the type of terminal
you're on. I imagine your using a standard human keyboard set up for
some sort-of limited use, as such, the "kit" mode. It's so that you
can't accidentally wreck the Bunix coding. Some terminals also have a
standard bunny terminal, which is a wierd looking thing that looks
like you put your paws into it and it shines your claws, but it's
really a type of "keyboard" that uses bunny-claws. It can accept
inputs right from your claws, and even give back some output right
through your claws. I wouldn't use that if you see it though, callie.
If you don't know what you're doing when you stick your claws in, it
can hurt!

What you would need to do is ask an administrator change the mode of
your terminal, which is something you probably better not do. What is
also possible is for you to give out your terminal number, and other
nice bunnies can hack into it and change it for you. Did you figure
out how to tightbeam? If you tightbeam the number to me, I can give it
to nice bunnies who will do that for you.

It's very tricky, callie. If we're gonna do it at all, you need to get
to a MedBun very *quickly*. Whatever you were given, there is a chance
that bunnies can change you back. But you need to see a doctor to do
it. And soon.
