Epic Journey

You will create your own epic poem that
depicts a mythic journey. It will begin with an invocation to the muse
and include the literary devices common to ancient epic poetry. Like Homer,
you will use similes, metaphors, epic similes, personification, epithets,
and repetition.

Include aspects of folk epics, such
as those we have seen in "The Odyssey" and "O Brother, Where Art
Thou?":

A hero (or heroine) who struggles to
reach an ultimate goal
-
A specific setting in which known landmarks
are integrated into the action
-
Deeds of valor that are necessary
due to continual challenges
-
Supernatural forces that interest themselves
in the action
-
An end to the journey (Master of Two
Worlds)

It must be written as a narrative poem
(not prose). Line breaks are up to you (it is not necessary, or even preferable,
to have this a rhyming poem; however, it should have rhythmic movement,
so that a bard could memorize it) .
