Entry: "Golden Compass"

Here's my question of the week: How many editions of these covers do we need exactly?

Prompted by the arrival of the new paperbacks featured here. Haven't seen the "collectibile hardcover volume" yet. But somehow I'm sure we'll meet before Christmas.

I loved the covers on the hardcovers (see 'How') and our Golden Compass paperback is featured on 'need', but I hate the ones in our Borders (featured on 'many'). UGLY. I hadn't seen the others, but they're much better than the 'many' ones. UGLY.

We own the 'need' version, it's not horrible, but unimpressive. I agree that the 'how' covers are the most attractive, although the 'exactly' covers are inoffensive.

I like the Lyra's Oxford cover a lot.

It's funny, I really wasn't thrilled about the 'editions' ones when they came out, but they've grown on me. Especially as opposed to the mass market covers. I think if I bought the series today, I'd get those.
