Entry: "Reunion by Lightman, Blankets"

Ouch. But (in theory... haven't read it) I feel his pain. That's how I feel about a lot of books.

I'm still basking in the end of Swann's Way, but I'll probably read The Passion by Winterson next.

I finished Blankets. It had brilliant moments, but didn't at all strike me as strongly as Persepolis. It isn't really fair to compare them... the only thing they have in common is their form... but part of me just doesn't feel like Blankets covered new ground... in terms of the transitions and feelings it evoked. The art was wonderful, and it worked well with the story, which was lovely and poingent... but... mmm... I dunno... I think it suffered from length issues. It was too long to be short, and too short to be deep... text-wise anyway. Or something. I know. It's not like I know anything about graphic novels. Actually I think I would have liked it a whole lot more with less/no text. In any case I'm bringing it back and I feel even more strongly that I should buy Persepolis in hardcover.

Some book credit drifted my way and I bought Prehistoric Art. I can't stop drooling over it.
