Entry: "Fashionable Dictionary"

A Fashionable Dictionary written by bitter academics. There are some good bits, but on the whole it strikes me as a little sad.

It's like... I wouldn't say they're wrong about postmodernism, but if they got out more, I don't think they'd be so worried.

(My browser's auto-complete function in forms strives for more formality than I myself might choose.)

I hear a lot less of the silly talk being mocked there since I left college. In other words, ditto Moss.

I've hit that site before, and it always fills me with a sense of despair. Surely there are people out there who like theory -- even weird, icky theory like Derrida or Lyotard, Heaven forfend -- but also understand and appreciate the scientific method, but you wouldn't know it to read Butterflies and Wheels. (To be fair, you also wouldn't know it to read some academic articles, and I suppose opposing theory on Sokal's grounds is better than opposing it because it's godless Communism.)
