Star Wars Episode II Errata (05/19/2002)

And here's some errata.. just weird things that popped into my head while watching the film. Beware, more spoilers.

- Is it just me, or were the cloner aliens really cool? Beautiful and kind of creepy at once.

- Samuel L. Jackson's transition from sounding drugged to sounding like Samuel L. Jackson was kind of humourously distracting. It was like suddenly we had Jedi Shaft.

- Did anyone have a Crimson Guard sighting? I thought I saw some right at the end.

- Christopher Lee was obviously enjoying himself.

- The subtitle of the film should really have been Episode II: why nice girls date slimy guys.

- Liam Neeson apparently recorded voice work for this film... but I don't recall him being in it anywhere.

- It's weird how much cooler Coruscant looked in this film.

- There was something indefinably funny about seeing Yoda rolling thunder in those Clone Transports. I feel like there should have been a 70's baom chicka baom song at that point.

- That big crustacean in the arena seen was REALLY ripped off from Starcraft. I have no other explanation for it.

Anyway, gotta go. Feel free to add your own.

Liam Neeson: "Anakin, no!!", after sandperson slaughter.

Here's some more random thoughts:
I was all down with not liking Anakin, but had the feeling that I was not liking Anakin wuhey more than the movie romance and score really wanted me to not like Anakin. I guess the ultimate example of this is where Anakin confides in Padme about his slaughtering escapade. I was down with it, but really wanted/expected Anakin to just walk away after saying that: instead he collapses on the floor. Then Padme pats him on the back as if to say: "There there! It's okay to feel a little upset about killing the women and children or whatever." So anyway after that I had a hard time with those two characters. The rest of the movie was great, though.

Also: It was real interesting to see Jedi ordering around Stormtroopers. And Obi-Wan is the man.

Huh. I think I missed the Qui-Gon thing. With the Padme thing... I thought it was very clever, but yeah, maybe they didn't mean it the way I took it. I guess we'll never know.

Rare moments of good acting:
Obi-Wan's first conversation with Jango.
Anakin and Obi-Wan's confronation on the transport after Padme falls off.
Largely any moment not involving Padme.

Yet more random *****from seth:
Count Dooku was pretty cool, I suppose, but I kinda liked Darth Maul better. I mean, do we really need another evil old white man?
I think this was intentional: It's like the Jedi just don't get the Dark Side. Like, at all. First, no one really seems concerned that Anakin might go nuts and kill folks, which should be a concern seeing as how he's an incredibly gifted and imepetuous/horny youth with a troubled past and a problem with authority. They don't ever preach to him about the dangers of the Dark Side. If you remeber that's all Luke seemed to hear about sometimes. I'm thinking that either the Jedi haven't had to deal with the Drak Side as a serious threat for so long that they've largely forgoten about it, or they're juts really, really arrogant. I'm thinking maybe a little bit of both. Also, remeber during the Qui-Gon battle, right before Maul spikes him, Maul gives him him this horrible grimace, and Qui-Gon responds with a look somewhere between fear and confusion? Yeah. . .
