Well, the wonderful world of Quake 3 is now running around inside my beige box.
I dunno, it seems kind of WRONG to be playing a 3d-accelerated game in Linux. But it runs real well, even if it is a stupid game.
I guess I'm kind of a dour guy. There aren't a whole lot of things that will make me break into an involuntary smile (unless it's a pained one). But watch me when I discover an excellent used book store... I lose all control of my face.
On a related note, what about this book for reading? I now own a tattered copy, and it is a Hugo winner, and by a female author. Rachel's suggestion also looks good.
Made margaritas last night with a hammer and a hand blender. It was fun.
In other news, I will hammer on the blog some more until it complies. Thursday, April 11, 2002
Matt: I'm sorry I left in a hurry. I was getting frustrated trying to concentrate on too many things at once.
Ok. The Blog is not fixed, but it is functional. I still have no idea what the hell happened, but I suspect it had something to do with Galeon. This is the second time my blog has had a seizure and come out looking weird. I think it is hopeless. Just go with the flow. I expect the blog to be in Cyrillic by some time next week.
Uuuuhhhhh...
My blog's template just CHANGED. I didn't edit it or anything, it was just suddenly full of crap around 9:30 tonight. Sigh. Links should be fixed soon. Tuesday, April 09, 2002
So, I now have 3d-acceleration in X-windows. Kind of.
Which is pointless, but was fun to figure out. Now I sleep for long time. Monday, April 08, 2002
I haven't forgotten the reading idea I had... I'm just still thinking about what to read. Additional suggestions are, of course, welcome.

I finished Starfish. It's quite a good novel... unique in its focus on emotional and psychological trauma, and also a gripping undersea adventure in its own right. There's even some hard SF to be found as a nice bonus. The ending is a bit eh, but I have discovered that there is a sequel, so all is forgiven. All in all, very good for a first novel.
Hey, Google News is nice. Thanks for linking to it, Mike, though I can't now remember where you did so.
