Ladies and gentlemen, the true definition of a geek with too much free time. From slashdot.

I picked up Starfish, by Peter Watts at the book store today. Looks interesting... I'll probably read it tomorrow.

Got kind of frazzled out by the mall today, but then I went to Staples. That store soothes my soul. I'm not sure why.

I've been feeling a strong urge to discuss SF lately... makes me wonder if there's an SF bookclub around one of the bookstores in Portland. I kind of doubt it, considering the lamentable selection at most of these stores. But I feel the need for some shared appreciation. If anyone would like to read a book with me (long distance is fine) drop me a line.

(20:49:18) elsarazin: who is yo room mate?
(20:49:30) melombardi: He's this guy.
(20:49:36) elsarazin: you know?
(20:49:37) melombardi: You know?
(20:49:42) elsarazin: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Modern Tales is doing well, I think. They have more effective promos of the comics on the main page. I still think it could use some more functionality, but I'm picky like that.

Liz now has a puppet koala. It is a being of pure evil. Liz makes it do things and then she cackles.

If anyone needs me, I'll be digging a hole to Bermuda.

Ok, I am now publishing-enabled again.

Tomorrow is Friday, lovely Friday. This weekend I will attempt to accomplish as little as is humanly possible.

If I had superpowers, I think I would become Antipundit! He who observes his world and enjoys life, but does not blather on endlessly in a jerkoff fashion.

So Blogger is shilling for their subscription service by preventing me from blogging. Or, they claim the servers are overloaded, but there is suddenly an ad for Pro in my calender box. Hmmm...

Liz made a delicious salmon dinner. She is goodly.

Hey, anyone know of any particularly good history websites? Just kind of general history, really. I'm looking to brush up a bit and get out from under this oppressive ignorance. Or something.

A good thing to have:

The ability to differentiate between your dreams and stuff you just like thinking about because it's cool.

I've got, like, folders and staples and those pinchy things.

You will now fear me!

"But I know a man who can."

No, you are not cute.

Here's one of those articles that really stratches an itch: just what are those signs all about anyway?
(from metafilter)

Synthetic Artificial Replicant Assembled for Zealous Infiltration and Nullification

Dear god I have a lot to work to do. Maybe Seth is right... maybe I can put all my power into one last Kamehameha wave.

The invention of the web has really made me dislike this holiday. It's like amateur hour, but much harder to avoid. So no jokes from me today.

Amazon's "Customers who bought this book also bought:" is becoming increasingly accurate: I often find that books that sound appealing to me and discover they're linked with books and authors I already enjoy. I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or not.

As requested, the Matt Lang Praise Column:

"Hello, I am Fancy Froglin!"

Thank you very much.
