"KIDS TO KIDS PROGRAM"
FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL'S "KIDS TO KIDS" is a cross cultural DOING, LEARNING, TEACHING AND HELPING program for children of any school age anywhere.
I. WHAT DO KIDS DO?
A. They form a chapter of Friends International in their school as a vehicle to operate.
B. They, along with the help of a faculty advisor and FI, identify a project they would like to work on in a developing country or domestically,. It may be a school, community, medical, or agricultural project.
C. In cooperation with the host site the children:
1.Identify their goals.
2.Organize for and raise money for their project.
D. They each identify a subject from the new culture they would like to learn more about.
E. They communicate directly with their project people.
II. WHAT DO KIDS LEARN?
A. They learn about another's culture.
B. They learn about a cultural subject of their choice.
C. They learn how to organize and cooperate with others.
D. They learn how to promote their project.
E. They learn business practices of accounting for the funds they raise and expend.
F. They learn more about their own culture buy understanding another's culture.
G. They learn international peace and understanding.
III. WHAT DO KIDS TEACH?
1. In their own class
2. In other class settings
3. In assemblies
4. At home
5. In the community
IV. HOW DO KIDS HELP?
A.They help those in their chosen culture in whatever project area they chose; it may be:
1. Building a school.
2. Helping keep a school open with their financial support.
3. Developing a community garden.
4. Developing a quilting cooperative
5. Supplying medical aids to a clinic
6. Or other such project they might decide on.
B. They help those in their chosen culture to understand another world that perhaps they have never known about.
