EASTER ON SANDDOLLAR
BEACH!
An Easter outing inspired this bunny after finding all those sanddollars (count them!) on Sanddollar Beach! The head is actually a live clam that we dug - it's unusual to dig such a large clam on that beach. It was also the first time that I have found Sanddollars with their mouths facing up! We have had some wicked winds and waves, so that may have accounted for their being upside down.
We actually drove down to the
north end of the island, and limited our outing because of the
cold wind. Even digging that clam was painful since the mittens
had to come off! But it was beautiful as this picture shows.
There were a few gulls looking
for goodies to eat, and ironically one found a quahog which is
rather unusual. Again, the high seas may have accounted for its
being available.
I am heading down to Connecticut
for a few weeks, and won't have access to the computer to report
to you. When I do get back, I will try and reflect on the differences
in the weather patterns. Here in Maine, it is still very cold
with snow flurries possible this week. I have a feeling in Connecticut,
the frogs will be singing and I can't wait to seek them out. Anyway,
Please put up with a little static in the Strand Line, and Happy
Easter to you!
