The Andromeda Galaxy is the largest member of the local group of galaxies near our own Milky Way. The galaxy contains 300 billion stars spread across 130,000 light years. The galaxy is one of the farthest objects visible to the naked eye. At a distance of 2.3 million light years, the galaxy appears as a small, dim fuzzy patch from my back yard on clear, moonless nights.
Scanned using a Polaroid Sprintscan 4000 at 2700 dpi. Adjusted curves using the Gimp.
