CGFM OvERVIEW

Certified Governmental Financial Manager

Certain financial management positions require certification: CPA, CIA, CISA, CIA, CFE, etc. Recently, the State of Maine and other employers have expanded their qualifications requirements to include the CGFM designation. A Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) title lets employers know that you have a broad base of knowledge in governmental auditing, accounting, financial management, and budgeting. Continuing education courses keep licensees current.

CGFM PROCLAMATION:

The Honorable Governor of Maine, Paul R. LePage, has issued a formal proclamation designating March of 2012 as Certified Government Financial Manager month. We are pleased and honored to present a copy of this proclamation.

STUDY GUIDES:

The Maine Chapter owns a full set of the official AGA study guides for all three of the CGFM tests. (see descriptions here: http://www.aga.omnibooksonline.com/)

These guides are available for any current member to borrow at no cost. Generally a guide will be available for your use for as long as you need it, but if multiple requests are made for any one of the guides we will work with you to set reasonable time limits that still accommodate your study and test schedule.

To borrow guides, please contact Susan Reynolds (susan.l.reynolds@maine.gov).
