Meet Charming Charlie Brown!
This brown charmer is Charlie (WayToMe Midsummer Knight, HIC)! He comes from Terry and Jody Workman of WayToMe Beardies in Bennet, NE. He's almost 14 years old now, and he's the top dog in this household (except for Mom and Dad, of course) — and he knows it!
Charlie really puts the "bear" in "Beardie" — everyone who meets him falls in love with him, and nearly all the people say he looks like a stuffed animal. He's really popular with the grrrrrlz, and he loved to flirt with all the Collie babes in agility class. (Must be that "Lassie" thing...)
I
had high hopes of his being my next performance dog after Duncan retired,
but Charlie had other ideas. He prefers to be "Good Time Charlie,"
and he'd rather party than work. Instead of herding the sheep, he went swimming
in the stock tank. He quickly discovered that people would cheer and applaud
loudly when he clowned on the agility course, and then ran directly to the
kiddie pool and jumped in. He loves tracking, but he loves jumping in ponds
and swamps more than he does following the track. You have to give him credit
for knowing what he wants. When Greg decided to take him along on his hikes,
Charlie was just beside himself with joy. He now sports a handsome red backpack
of his own, in which he carries the water and refreshments.
He loves to take long hikes, dig holes in the backyard (his Big Dig was completed on time and under budget), jump in kiddie pools, chomp on knucklebones, and tour around town in the car. He especially loves charming fans everywhere he goes — sitting at traffic lights, in the post office parking lot... anywhere where he can attract an audience of admirers.
