Here is a list of resources from the CONFERENCE BOARD

Here are some additional resources to consult when evaluating quality health care plans.

Business Coalitions-In many locations, employers have formed health coverage purchasing coalitions. Some coalitions purchase health coverage in bulk, thereby maximizing their purchasing power. Others simply join together to rate and evaluate local health plans. Ask your local Chamber of Commerce or business association if there is an employer health care coalition in your community. Or contact the National Business Coalition on Health at (202) 775-9300.

Health Insurance Brokers, Agents, Consultants-Many businesses use brokers, agents or consultants to buy their insurance. These agents can provide insight into the quality of care being provided by each plan and can help you evaluate your plan options.

Health Plan Evaluations-Several independent organizations conduct in-depth evaluations of local health plans. These include Washington's and San Francisco's Consumer CheckBook, and national media organizations, such as U.S. News and World Report and Consumer Reports. However, before relying on these reports, be sure the criteria used in their evaluations are consistent with what is important to you and your employees.

Professional and Trade Associations-Many professional and trade associations can provide consumer information on health plans. Depending on your need, consider contacting the American Association of Health Plans (AAHP), the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA), the American Medical Association (AMA), or other medical specialty boards for information.
