I was born in New York City
and had barely learned to crawl before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona where I mostly grew
up. I say mostly because my moms roots were in Edgecomb, Maine and she successfully
persuaded dad to purchase a summer cottage in nearby Boothbay Harbor. It was a great life,
riding horseback through the desert to Judson School in the winter & mom driving
across the country in the station wagon with grandma, sister Joan, "Mama Kitty",
Sandy, the dog, and me to summer in Maine
.Dad took the train. At eleven, with a Kodak Tourist folding camera, I became enthralled with photography. Capturing images seemed magical! Next came
the bathroom darkroom. A 35mm camera and the high school photo club provided an
understanding of print-making and composition. While a student at the University of
Arizona varied freelance assignments followed, such as candids of Vice President Hubert
Humphrey, and blues-rocker John Mayall for the Druid Free Press. It was exciting
photographing bull riders & calf ropers in the local rodeos. I was hooked.
But Maine was in my blood. After graduating from the UofA in 1970 with
a BA in Political Science, I returned to Boothbay Harbor and opened a studio. In 1976
Christine joined the business and we later married and started our terrific family.
Photography evolves. Soon our color lab opened offering print and transparency processing.
Currently we are enjoying the transition to digital imaging. Weve built a
comprehensive, versatile business yet our goal is still the same: to provide clients top
quality images, on time, and on budget.
