Thickly soaked and refrozen snow, packed trail. Packed portion generally firm enough to avoid postholing to 3500 feet. (Postholing virtually guaranteed when stepping off packed trail.) Trail occasionally undermined/flooded by water before first stream crossing.
Above 3500 feet, snow is knee to hip deep on 6 footer. Lots of branches to push through due to being raised above summer hiking level, especially in final 0.3 mi to summit, which felt like a bushwhack.
Most of this trail was well sheltered from the wind that gusted to 132 MPH on Mt Washington this day.
