| Comments | Snowshoes were helpful, crampons were not needed, poles helpful, especially on the very steep final .2 to the summit. Usual winter wind protection from the wind on the summit. |

Due to the snow followed by rain/ice during the week, the trail was unbroken from that storm when we started and very crusty. Made for a noisy snowshoes. Trail is well broken after the day’s traffic, even met someone barebooting his way up. Minor water crossings were ok.
We were a group of 10 and meet several others on their way up so the trail was well traveled by the time we got back down. Met a couple of overnighters headed to the shelter/tentsites so there would be tracks in that direction now. It was a nippy day, hovering around zero most of the way with a stiff wind on the summit (had trouble with visibility as we drove through Crawford from the high winds blowing the snow). It was a good day, the trail was sheltered with not much wind until about a half mile from the top, and then it was not bad until we stood on the summit. Mike was reminded to hang onto his stuff in the high wind as one of his overmits learned to fly.
Thanks to Claudette and Kevin for leading a great hike. JR
