Great afternoon of January thaw hiking. This is one of my favorite trails but unfortunately the lower half has been completely logged over almost to the foot of the first ledges. You can still find the trailhead by looking for the faint blue blaze on a tree and the trail can still be followed if you're careful. Some of the rocks show faded paint blazes (blue and orange blazes) and someone has placed a few pieces of surveyor's tape along the way. I hate to think what the area will look like this spring and summer without the snow cover. It sure will be a hot area to hike thru on a sunny day. I don't begrudge the landowner for taking advantage of the value of his land, but it really is a shame to have lost a part of this beautiful trail. It will be many years before the scars heal.
