Took the brook trail to the alpine pond area, distance of about 1.5 miles. The first half mile of the trail is a very pleasant walk that becomes moderately steep for the next half mile with the final half mile you get to do some moderate boulder scrambling. The trail is clear marked and was in very good shape. The prize (other than the views at the summit) is a pristine alpine pond with trout. On my visit a couple of hikers (turned fishermen) had caught a couple of small ones. This would be an excellent hike for most everyone. Hope you get the opportunity to try it. The trail head is about five miles on the byson road from Weld, Maine.
