Beautiful early Spring day on Speck.   We didn't make the summit despite our extended effort --- snowpack still very deep and well above the trail blazes above 3400'.  We attempted to bushwack the rest of the way but chose to retreat due to the time involved and how "challenging" the thick spruce was proving to be.  Altogether a good day on the mountain despite the still-deep snows.
