This is an excellent trip if you have kids. I brought my 4 and 6 year old (as well as my 8 and 10) and they did the entire trip themselves with no problems. It's only 2.6 miles round trip but it has just enough of a taste of elevation gain for kids or even as a spring tune up hike for adults. They views of Islesboro and the outlying harbor are amazing-as good as anything I've seen in the White Mountains (I've bagged 25 4,000 footers).
