This is an excellent tune up hike and/or a great one for kids. Megunticook is only 1380 feet but 1000 feet of that are almost straight up. The hike is fairly easy but difficult enough to keep it interesting. There is a great 5 mile loop you can do or longer if you want. The views are fantastic of Camden and the harbor. The folks at the Camden Hills State Park are extremely helpful and the trail markings are excellent.
