New trail; 3.5 easy miles around Shell Pond (75 minutes), starts opposite White Cairn Trail on the Stone House road, gentle climb part-way up Deer Hill (150 feet rise), crosses rough bridges over swampy bits, bench with view over Shell Pond west to Baldface. Returns through meadows past the old Stone House. (Take side hike 1/2 mile up the Stone House trail to Rattlesnake Pool to cool off on the way back to the starting point.)
