Comments Mt. Tecumseh is a great hike to start off the season with!  It is as simple of a 4000 footer as you will get. I broke in a new pair of boots and I found this to be the perfect trail for that!

I took a circular path up the Mt. Tecumseh trail from the Waterville Valley Ski area base. This trail was well marked and quite easy for the first 1.1 miles. After crossing over a stream (last water) the trail climbs at a moderate pace up to the Tecumseh ridge. A nice ridge path (Sosman trail) runs between the summit cone of Tecumseh and the top of the ski trails.

There is a limited view at the top of Tecumseh (4003') but it is very nice. I backtracked to the top of the ski slopes and took the main slope down the mountain. This slope runs along side a quad chairlift. The grass was over 2 feet high in some parts but there was a clear trail where previous hikers matted down the grass.

The slope was really neat since there were great views of Waterville Valley and the slope was covered with an abundance of wildflowers and mountain strawberries. (Nice and Ripe!!)
