The Offering/ La Ofrenda by Gwen Sylvester oil on canvas 16" x 20"

 








  This is a variation on another artist's painting I saw in Soho.  The scene reminded me of the bright stucco funerary altars that are seen all over Mexico.  I can't remember the artist's name but was intrigued by the composition and idea of "spirit of place",  as if the walls were living.
