Geophysical Science - Quarter 1 Project.
Project overview:
During this quarter you will do a research project based upon a physical
science current event that you read about in a newspaper or a magazine. You are to find an article, write a brief
summary of the main points of the article and present what you have learned to
the class.
Specifics.
1. The article
should be about physical science or related to physical science subjects. If your article is about a life science you
are to link that article to one of the physical sciences studies areas
(physics, chemistry, energy, motion, structured fields, etc.) You are to
describe how your article relates to physical science and your argument must be
supported by research. The article must
be from a current publication that has been published within the past three
months. The article may be of any length
and you must cite the article name, author, publication and date of
publication, and the pages in the publication where you found the article.
2. You must
write a one page minimum to a two page maximum, word processed, double spaced
paper about your article.
3. You must
present your paper to the class in a minimum of two minutes and maximum of five
minutes oral presentation.

b. Your name and science section.
c. An introductory paragraph that tells what
your paper will be about.
d. Additional paragraphs that answer the
following questions.
1)
What is the article about?
2) What does your article have to do with the
physical sciences or how does it relate to the physical sciences?
3) Why did this article interest you?
4) Why should the information in your article be
of interest to other students in your class?
e. A concluding paragraph that summarizes the
main points of your paper.
f. The citation of the reference you used to
link your article to the physical sciences.
We will use the MLA Handbook as the guide that tells us the format of
the reference citations. A copy of the MLA
Handbook is in the school library. MLA
citation formats can also be accessed from the Internet.
g. A copy of your article.
5.

word processed and must include a one inch margin at the top, bottom, left and
right sides of your paper. It must be
double spaced. Paragraphs must be
indented and must contain a strong topic sentence. Grammar and spelling will count toward the total
grade.

following not later than the following dates:
Note: if your class does not meet
on THAT day, the project part is due on the day BEFORE, not the day AFTER. Plan your times accordingly.
